Child Prostitution

The socioeconomic problems that drive most children in Brazil into prostitution are poverty, domestic violence and sexual abuse by a relative. Today there are 3 generations already on the streets which contributes to the sex tourism industry in the world. These children and teenagers end up involved in prostitution in order to leave their home. According to NGOs, children in the streets are not hungry. Obviously in the streets, they become exposed to loads of other things such as drug addiction. The girls I have been documenting say they are prostitutes in order to buy crack. Therefore, what was once already a bad situation, becomes exacerbated as they see themselves completely helpless with additional problems.
