The fall of communism was later and more disorderedly in Albania than in any other post communist country in Europe . It was accompanied by economic and political chaos, creating a huge unemployment rate, poor livelihood prospects and low levels of education. Factors that made many Albanian families vulnerable to renting and selling their children due to these circumstances. Greece became the main country where Albanian children were forced to work for traffickers who were not always strangers; they are friends, or seen as friends. In reality they are just people who are supposed to bring money to their families. 90% of children trafficked from Albania to Greece come from Albanian-Gypsy background. Their traditional parents reject assimilation and are rejected financially and culturally by society. Nevertheless, there are really no ethnic criteria for recruiting children.
